We Have A New Website!

If you have visited our site in the past, you probably know by now that the website has changed considerably! This design is entirely our own. We have attempted to make it simple and attractive, while giving you a feel for our work. (Many thanks to Evan Scott of Squid Liberty Design for doing our original site!)

While we are continue building facilities, our horse herd has grown to eight. Or is it nine? Thanks go to several people who have donated horses to us, and thanks also to these horses who have let us know they are willing to work with us.

And New Programs...

We are excited to be partnering with Dr. Emily Gordon, PhD., of Weaverville, NC. Emily is a clinical psychologist and an avid equestrian. She and Karen have worked together several times over the years, and make a dynamic team for teaching leadership to women. Offering a series of six sessions over six months is a new format for us, something we have wanted to do for a while. This will give the group a chance to form stronger ties to each other, and to our horses.

We had a most interesting lunch a few weeks ago with Tom Nagle, the author of the book Zen and Horseback Riding. To demonstrate some of his bodywork principles to us, Tom had us lying on the floor at the back of the little restaurant, learning how to activate our psoas muscles. We spent time walking around to feel our hips, and generally having an outrageously fun time. I hope the other patrons were amused. Fortuntately, the owner of the restaurant is a friend of ours. By the end of the lunch, we had decided to bring Tom to our facility for a workshop. Look for it to be both fun and enlightening.

Look for more news in the next week or so. Construction is about to start on our barn (a few months late), and we are looking to have everything we build LEED certified. More pictures to follow as well.
