What is Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL)?

Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) is experiential education where horses serve as a catalyst for self-discovery. The horses are natural models for authenticity; they do not lie. At Equinection, we structure experiences with horses and guide participants to process and deepen their awareness. Learn more >>

What do I wear/bring?

Bring clothing that you are comfortable wearing around horses; clothing will get dirty. Our Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) workshops are held outdoors, so dress suitably to the season: rain gear, comfortable walking shoes, a hat and sunscreen are good to have. Layers are recommended, as the weather in the mountains can shift dramatically in one day. You must have boots (NO STEEL-TOES) or sturdy shoes to work with the horses. Athletic shoes, tennis shoes, or soft-topped shoes cannot be worn when working with the horses.

Are meals or food included in the workshop?

Lunch will be provided for 3 & 4-Day workshops only. Participants in 1-Day workshops bring lunch and snacks they will need for the day. You have full use of a kitchen to store and prepare food.

Is there Internet access?

There is limited Internet access at Equinection because we are in a rural setting.

Can my family and friends contact me?

Emergency contact during workshops will be through the Equinection office phone: 828-682-9157.

Do I need to have prior horse experience to attend a workshop at EQ?

No, our participants need not have any prior horse experience. The focus of the workshop is on building self-awareness through interaction with the horses, not on horsemanship or riding.

Will I be doing any horseback riding?

There is no riding in our workshops.

How far away from Asheville is Equinection?
